Cold weather flying has more considerations, but it can be worth the extra effort.
This is my first winter with the S7, and also not having to go to work (semiretired), so I’ve been able to really take advantage of the flyable days. In some ways it’s easier, you can sleep late and still make the “dawn patrol” !
This is getting under way just before noon.

Then it’s 3 to 4 hours of constant sunset which makes for some good photo opportunities.

Of course with a blanket of snow and some wheelskis, landing options increase.

But landing isn’t always required to get a shot of your plane.

Not all the days are so nice, in fact most are overcast. You can still get airborne but the light is so flat you can’t see the ground well enough to land.

It’s nice to be available when the flyable days come around.
I’m liking this retirement business!
